Foxx suffered a “medical complication” in April of last year that left him sidelined for months.

However, he has seized the opportunity to address what caused the mysterious illness in his new Netflix comedy special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was,” which was filmed in Atlanta back in October.

The “Django: Unchained” actor broke down in tears severally as he recounted the ordeal to fans, disclosing that he suffered a “brain bleed that led to a stroke,” leaving him wiped out for 20 days.

“I was fighting for my life,” Foxx explained. “April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for an aspirin… before I could get the aspirin… I went out. I don’t remember 20 days.”

According to Fox News, the Oscar-winning actor shared that he was on the brink of death and went into a coma for several weeks.

His first appointment with a doctor saw him receive a cortisone shot. However, that didn’t seem to reverse his health troubles, prompting his sister, Deidra Dixon, to continue seeking medical attention for him.

The “Day Shift” actor eventually got medical attention at Piedmont Hospital, with a doctor declaring that he was “having a brain bleed that’s led to a stroke.”

“If I don’t go in his head right now, we’re going to lose him,” the doctor said.

After his surgery, he said that the doctor told his sister, “You were right, your prayers are answered. We didn’t find where it was coming from, but he is having a stroke. He may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s going to be the worst year of his life.”

Foxx continued, “I was so dizzy from the stroke… 20 days, I don’t remember. On May 4, I woke up. When I woke up, I found myself in a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk.”

The health scare incident initially confused Foxx as he thought his stroke was a “prank.”

He went on for days refusing to see a therapist until a healthcare worker gave him a hard reality check about his condition as the actor was convinced that “Jamie Foxx don’t get strokes.”

“Listen, you gotta knock this sh-t off, this whole Jamie Foxx sh-t, stop this arrogant bullsh-t, that stroke doesn’t give a f-ck about who you are,” the therapist told him.

The actor explained that that was the moment he snapped out of it and dedicated time and passion to returning to health.

He added that his daughters, Corinne and Anelise, and his sister, Dixon, “held it down” at the hospital for him and that he leaned heavily on his faith during his near-death experience until he witnessed a miracle.

“My vitals are so bad, they’re going to lose me. That’s when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter. She’s 14 – I didn’t want her to see me like that, but she snuck into my hospital room with my guitar. ‘I know what my daddy needs,'” Foxx explained.

“When she was playing, my vitals… went down… it was God in that guitar. Spiritual defibrillator,” he noted.

Prior to its release, several individuals who attended the live tapings for his comedy special said Foxx blamed embattled rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs for being the cause of his health scare.

The actor jokingly compared Diddy to the devil while making references to the rapper’s scandalous legal battles.

“Your life doesn’t flash before your face. It was kind of oddly peaceful. I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light,” Foxx said. “It was kind of hot in the tunnel… am I going to the wrong place? I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the devil… Or was that Puffy? I’m f-cking around, but if that was Puffy, he had a flaming bottle of Johnson and … no, I’m just kidding.”

He then weighed in on the rumors, saying, “Internet said ‘Puffy tried to kill me.’ I know what you’re thinking ‘Diddy?'” before adding, “Hell naw – I left them parties early. I was out by 9:00 – something don’t look right. It’s slippery in here.”

Foxx’s comedy show comes after he went through an emotional moment as he walked his daughter, Corinne, down the aisle at her wedding to college sweetheart Joe Hooten.

According to the Daily Mail, Foxx and Corinne enjoyed a sweet father-daughter dance at the stunning event, which took place months after the comedian’s health scare.

Reminiscing on her wedding day back in May, Corinne told Access Hollywood that she was “hoping” Foxx could “get down the aisle without crying.”

“I don’t think he’s going to make it! He’s really excited, though,” she said at the time.

Corinne and Hooten met while she attended USC, where she earned a degree in public relations, and he earned a degree in film & TV production.
