Jade Pettyjohn is an actress with a long, impressive resume already. Her first role was in the American Girl film McKenna Shoots For The Stars. She then starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom, School of Rock. She also appeared in the Hulu miniseries, Little Fires Everywhere. In November, she celebrated the end of the SAG-AFTRA Strike on Instagram. In a post, she wore workout gear, and captioned it, “Strike is over!” How does she stay so fit? Pettyjohn talked about being grateful in the caption of this Instagram post. “I’m so thankful for the people in my life that made my life what it is. Adventurous, hilarious, powerful, meaningful, creative and above all… passionate. Grateful for every moment. The hard ones. The exciting ones. The simple pleasures. The belly laughs in between philosophy between hearts. The silence and the rock n roll. Dancing with friends, a long kiss, moments by myself, making art, coffee with the people who raised me, spiritual revelations. Everything. Thank you for reminding me of warmth and humanity. Pettyjohn supported the SAG-AFTRA Strike, and shared these photos on Instagram of herself protesting. She captioned the post, “Proud to stand alongside my fellow actors and the writers in the pursuit of a fair deal and basic fundamental protections for actors and writers. This industry is made up of humanity, not machinery or computers. Artists cannot be replaced. To keep the dream of being a working actor alive for this generation and generations to come is what we’re fighting for. Here’s to protecting that dream!“
Pettyjohn is all about doing what she wants, and talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Something that has become increasingly more real to me is how sacred life is. To lean into the kiss. And let your belly ache as you laugh. To play Purple Rain for a stranger in a park. To take risks. To spend your time on people and pursuits that enhance you and not drain you of your power and glow. The concept is so painfully simple but man I’ve been really feeling the power in it. I don’t necessarily feel like life is short, but I do think it’s fast. And I want to feel my life as I live it and appreciate just how godly being here is. Sending you some love and genuinely hope you’re doing well.”
Pettyjohn spends a lot of time outside. One thing she likes to do is go on hikes. She shares a lot of hiking posts on Instagram. Pettyjohn was seen hiking in this reel. Piedmont states that hiking has a lot of health benefits. “Hiking is a weight-bearing exercise, which builds muscle mass and helps prevent osteoporosis. Hiking can help you manage your weight. It is a joint-friendly form of exercise that can keep arthritis sufferers more limber and mobile.”
Pettyjohn is an empathetic person. She said in an interview that this helps her as an actress. “I think that the reason why I love being an artist is it is communication at its essence and the element of empathy is something that I find really important. So I love being able to take on a character and I might not have any understanding or reality of how this particular character lives her life, but I have to understand, and walk in their shoes, and understand that and communicate.”
