Robert Downey Jr reached a new milestone by winning the Oscar in a supporting role for his performance in the 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer. The actor’s career got a second chance after starring as Iron Man in the MCU. He kickstarted the universe with his film and became one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. People adore him in that role and wish to see him again as the charming Tony Stark. The actor has recently revealed that he would willingly reprise it again if he gets a chance.
RDJ appeared in the part for the first time in 2008 and reprised the role in multiple movies until 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. He reportedly earned around $435 million from the Marvel movies. Before appearing as Tony Stark in the MCU, RDJ had a rough time owing to his substance abuse, and he left behind that past and was starting over. The studio initially hesitated about hiring him for the part, but Jon Favreau was adamant about his casting.
The actor stole hearts again with his performance as Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and took home all the awards this season. It would not have been possible if it weren’t for his Iron Man stint in Marvel. In an interview with Esquire, Robert Downey Jr recently addressed his MCU future. Previously, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said that they would not undo Tony Stark’s death, but since Hugh Jackman is returning as Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine, the fans are cooking theories to bring their beloved Avenger back.
Robert Downey Jr said, “Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, Never bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”
Several rumors claim that Robert Downey Jr might play an Iron Man variant in Avengers: Secret Wars. The film is expected to be released in the theatres in 2027, and the fans will have to wait to see whether they wish to see RDJ as Tony Stark materializes.
