Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith is among the thousands of people who’ve lost their homes to the current wildfires plaguing Los Angeles. The metal legend’s wife, Nathalie Dufresne-Smith, confirmed the unfortunate news via Instagram, revealing that the couple’s Malibu house was destroyed.
“We are safe. We have each other. We will start again. #malibustrong Thank you for your support during these trying times,” wrote Nathalie via Instagram.
Earlier, Nathalie posted a live Instagram video as the fire was approaching. In the harrowing video, Adrian can be seen helping to load the couple’s car as Nathalie asks him to check in on an elderly neighbor next door. At one point, “Natalie says, “Oh shit, this is not good. Oh well, house, we did enjoy you.”
In another video, she can be heard saying, “Look, this is definitely coming toward us… now we have to go!”
The news of Adrian Smith losing his house comes after our report on Friday that Primus guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonds and Spiritbox bassist Josh Gilbert also lost their homes to the Los Angeles wildfires.
Meanwhile, Smith is set to release the new album Black Light / White Noise with Richie Kotzen, under the Smith/Kotzen moniker, on March 7th. Additionally, he is set to embark on the UK/European leg of the “Run for Your Lives Tour” with Iron Maiden in May.
Our thoughts go out to Adrian Smith and his family, as well as all the victims of these tragic LA wildfires, during this difficult time.
