Iron Maiden Ask Fans to "Severely Limit" Phone Usage During Shows on Upcoming Tour

Iron Maiden put on one of the most theatrical stage productions in heavy metal, but you might think twice before filming any of the shows on their upcoming European “Run for Your Lives Tour.” Via remarks from longtime manager Rod Smallwood, the band is asking fans to “severely limit” phone usage during the upcoming gigs.

“We really want fans to enjoy the shows first hand, rather than on their small screens,” said Smallwood in a post on the band’s official website. “The amount of phone use nowadays diminishes enjoyment, particularly for the band who are on stage looking out at rows of phones, but also for other concertgoers.”

While it doesn’t sound like the band will go fire-and-brimstone and boot you from the show if you raise your phone, a la stricter acts like Tool, you might stand out in the crowd if Maiden’s famously loyal fanbase heeds the no-phones request. Find tickets to the upcoming gigs at this location.
