Irish men are wreaking havoc on Lower Broadway in Nashville. They are traveling to Music City in droves after Aer Lingus added a brand-new direct flight to and from Dublin in the middle of April.

It has proved to be a very effective partnership between the two cities so the Honky Tonks are pouring more shots of Jameo than ever before— and much earlier than ever before!

Aer Lingus offers four flights per week on the the Airbus A321neo, which can seat 180-244 passengers. It alternates days, excluding Sundays, with the following travel schedule to/from Dublin and Nashville:

  • Depart DUB at 2:05 p.m. —> Arrive BNA at 5:10 p.m.
  • Depart BNA at 6:40 p.m. —> Arrive DUB at 8:50 a.m. (next day)

On one end of the partnership, Nashvillians have a greater access to Europe. Not only can they more easily vacation in Ireland, they can use Dublin as a stopover for other flights elsewhere on the continent.

On the other end of the partnership, a large number of Irishmen and women are getting their first opportunity to experience the country music capital of the world. It has been nothing short of chaos.

I live in Nashville so I have seen the takeover with my own two eyes, even though the locals don’t spend all too much time on Broadway. Aer Lingus officially added the direct flight on April 12. The amount of people traveling here from Ireland has increased exponentially. They’re everywhere!

The level of rowdiness to their visit varies by person/group. Some couples are here on their honeymoons.

Others are here to experience the most “American” city in the U.S. and to cosplay as a cowboy.

And then there’s the wild ones. They’re out on Lower Broadway before the clock hits noon with more than a few pints in them.

It does not matter if the rest of the bar is empty. The Irish lads are turning up at all hours of the day. Bachelor parties in particular have no chill! You can always tell if they’re from the States or not.

Some of these Irishmen hope to get a kiss from an American woman while they are here— even if they don’t put in any effort! They cannot be stopped.

Aer Lingus took a gamble on a more unique direct flight. The Nashville to Dublin connection might sound weird, because it is, but the gamble has absolutely paid off thus far. Men and women from Ireland often outnumber the amount of locals on Broadway. Even the midwest cannot keep up. Keep your head on a swivel!
