Look, Invincible gets it. It has been a long way for Invincible season two. And fans of the superhero show are hungry for more. To help sate their appetite, the teaser for Invincible season two features Burger Mart’s delicious burgers. And a reminder that patience is a virtue, making shows takes time. And even though Mark Grayson would not heroically reveal a specific release date, he did give us a little bit of something to hold onto. Invincible season two will release in, drumroll please, “Late 2023.” Well, there’s a specific date if we ever heard it.
Take a look at the full teaser trailer in all its burger-filled, Allen the Alien glory.
Invincible last aired in 2021. But what has taken so long for season two to arrive to our screens? Well, Mark explains in a perfectly meta-way, he’s been busy “writing, designing, storyboarding, voice acting, key posing, in-betweening, cleaning up, color slapping, comping the whole thing, and all that.” Wow, Invincible is really good at every aspect of creating an animated show.
We did get a glimpse, however, of a seemingly real page from Invincible season two’s script.
What could Invincible have done? Could it allude to a comic book plotline where Mark sides with the villain Dinosaurus? That’s just one hypothesis, but there’s no real telling yet what will come.
This tongue and cheek introduction of our favorite heroes is exactly what we’d expect from Prime Video. We’d guess Mark got some instruction in sarcasm from Homelander and the rest of The Boys‘ colorful crew. But, we guess, finally, an end to our Invincible season two wait is at hand. So we’ll take it.
For those who need a little refresher, Invincible‘s official synopsis reads:
From The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and based on the Skybound/Image comic of the same name by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible is an hour-long, adult animated superhero show that revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.
When we last left Mark and the gang, Invincible and his all-powerful father Omni-Man had battled each other in a vicious fight which left he world reeling. Omni-Man is in the wind, but the bond between Mark and his friends has never been tighter, setting the stage for season two. Of course, on earth and in Viltrum, there’s evil stirring. It will take a whole universe to put things right, but we’re guessing, it will mostly take Invincible.
We guess we’ll find out for sure when Invincible season two premieres in… Late 2023.
