A SIZE 26 woman has hit back at cruel trolls accusing her of “promoting obesity”, as she insisted she’s “just fat” and doesn’t “hate” herself.
Laura Adlington first found fame as a contestant on The Great British Bake Off back in 2020, and has since made a name for herself as a plus-size fashion influencer.
She regularly shares pictures and videos of herself modelling cute outfits on her social media pages, but the comments she receives are not always complimentary.
“Stop promoting obesity,” one person wrote.
Laura responded in a Reel on her Instagram page, as she wrote over the top of a collage of pictures and videos of herself: “I’m not ‘promoting obesity’.
“I’m just fat and don’t hate myself!”
“Of all the horrible comments I get, this is the one that hurts the most,” she added in the caption.
“What is it about a fat woman living a full and unapologetic life that upsets people so much?
“I don’t know the answer but I do know I’m going to keep on doing it!”
And people in the comments section were quick to praise Laura for her post, with one writing: “From a larger woman who used to hide and be ashamed of my very existence – I thank you for promoting being happy and not hating yourself.
“I have learned so much from you and have stopped putting things off because of my size – I thank the stars for your account!!!!”
“You’re my hero, I’m starting to be more confident in my body since I found you,” another said.
“Didn’t you know? We’re supposed to hide in a corner and fade into obscurity,” a third commented.
“They honestly believe that we don’t deserve fun and don’t deserve to share that fun with people. It’s absolutely wild!” someone else said.
“It’s because there’s a culture created believes that weight is a happiness formula,” another wrote.
“The less you weigh the happier you are.
“Well whoever created it and their followers have never eaten a twelve inch meat feast pizza whilst wearing their favourite bright coloured outfit and throwing their head and chins back in laughter.
“I have and will continue to because its fabulous and I want to live my life.”
As someone else commented: “This is literally everything!
“I adore you, but adore you even more for this post! This is what I ALWAYS say.”
