A MAKE-UP whizz put the viral Maybelline foundation to the test – but was not impressed.
Chloé Kent (@chloekent89) wanted to give the popular make-up product, that has recently been trending on social media, a try, but was not pleased with how it looked on her skin.
The beauty fan, from Kent, took to TikTok to test out the Super Stay Hybrid Powder Foundation.
She uploaded her clip with the caption: “Sorry Maybelline babe, my honest review.”
She said: “Do you remember the adverts? Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline.
“We gotta look good – I’m trying out this, this viral little b*****d.
“Let’s see how well it does.
“Okay, I’m really exposing my skin now, since I’ve become a mum and hit 30, look at all these rings around my eyes, I look like Uncle Fester.
“Okay, this stuff says it’s a powder to a foundation – super stay, up to 24 hours.
“It’s a matte look, but a weightless feel.
“Okay, there is a compact thing here [underneath], but, Maybelline, what do you think we’re doing? Getting ready for our Year 6 disco babe? That ain’t gonna do.
“Before I go into this, my heart says no.
“I’m used to liquid, I don’t know how this is gonna be, but I’ll go in with a foundation brush.”
Chloé then used her brush to apply the foundation to her cheeks, but looked baffled into the camera.
She continued: “Am I doing this right? Let me try a beauty blender.”
Chloé then tried the product using her beauty blender, but things still weren’t looking up.
She added: “Oh, guys, I really want to rave about this, because I want the commission off you all, but, it’s s**t.
“Sorry, Maybelline. What the f**k is that? Babe, I’m out.”
The beauty fan later explained: “I didn’t actually explain why I hate it – it just sits on the surface looking all dry and cakey.
“Not for me.”
Chloé’s clip has clearly made many people chuckle, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 192.1k views.
It has 10.1k likes, 370 comments and 120 shares.
But social media users were left divided at the video – while some agreed and weren’t keen on the foundation, others couldn’t disagree more.
One person said: “This foundation is awful and sick of influencers hyping it for ££’s. It’s dry & cakey.”
Another added: “I tried it today. Was okay at first but my skin is drier than the Sahara rn.”
A third commented: “I brought it thinking it was going to be fab. Disappointed.”
Someone else noted: “I got totally sucked into this and wasted £11. I’m so gutted.
“Genuinely thought I’d be as good as they said – forgot they’ll say anything for money!!”
However, someone else disagreed and posted: “Disagree!!!! It’s brilliant!!”
A second make-up fan claimed: “Naa it ain’t! it actually looks good on the side you used your brush!!”
Whilst someone else explained: “I honestly love this stuff! I add it with a trigwell puff and use setting spray and it sits so lovely on my face.”
Another chimed in: “I really like mine but not as a foundation, I use it as a powder over the top to stop the shine!”
