Ice Poseidon’s $100K Hunger Games ends in controversy as win overturned in epic final battle

Ice Poseidon overrules hunger games

Ice Poseidon’s $100K Hunger Games Kick competition ended in controversy after the original result was overturned following a crazy final battle.

Kick streamer Ice Poseidon took content to another level with his IRL Hunger Games-style battle royale that saw 50 creators fight it out to a massive $100,000 prize.

Each combatant had vests to keep track of hit detection so players could be eliminated and on August 21, it all came down to one last battle. But, although a winner was crowned, the result wasn’t exactly as clear cut as it seemed.

As the remaining creators duked it out with batons and riot shields, the competition withered down until only two men remained standing: Esai Givens and Korean streamer Taemin.

Originally, Givens was declared the winner when he appeared to secure the final blow to win the entire Kick event with just one HP left, after reviewing the data, Ice Poseidon had to make a controversial ruling.

“After reviewing the server data for the hit detection vests, I unfortunately have to overturn the win. The last man standing with health left was actually Taemin the Korean for the 100k win,” Ice explained.

Ice Poseidon had to overturn the result.

However, the streamer made sure that there was at least some compensation for the runner-up due to the mistake. “Because I screwed up not looking at the correct data during the fight, Esai gets 50k for 2nd. Both men are warriors and true valiant survivors.”

Ice Poseidon further discussed the situation with Taemin, saying that the web page he was using wasn’t updating, but the server kept sending data and he didn’t see that until afterward.

“[Esai] was actually dead for a couple of minutes before you were,” he revealed.

This isn’t the only IRL Hunger Games in the streaming world. Earlier in 2024, Twitch star Kai Cenat announced plans for his own battle royale and wants 50 popular influencers to partake. Whether he’ll look to Ice’s event for inspiration, however, remains to be seen.
