A BELOVED influencer couple broke up after three years together, sending their fans into a tailspin.
Cayden Christianson and Alyssa Eckstein, better known as The Pink Shirt Couple, have created content together since 2021.
The couple was best known for wearing the same pink outfit every day, earning them a massive following on social media.
However, their love story came crashing down after a video was uploaded on their channel over the weekend, explaining that they broke up.
News of the breakup had fans sharing their heartbreak on X, formerly known as Twitter, and YouTube.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN PINK SHIRT COUPLE BROKE UP,” tweeted one person. “NO, I DON’T BELIEVE THIS.”

“I’m crying, not because of family issues but because I was just informed that the pink shirt couple broke up,” wrote another person.
A third wrote: “@PinkShirtCouple you will be missed.”
“I DON’T BELIEVE IN LOVE ANYMORE!” wrote another person.
On their YouTube video, which has more than 16,000 comments, users shared their support for the former couple.
“I was devastated to hear about the break-up, but I hope that you both find happiness and fulfillment in your lives moving forward,” wrote YouTuber Nuqi, who has more than 3 million subscribers.
“Sending love and support your way.”
“I genuinely was hoping this was a prank and when I realised it wasn’t I started crying. I love you guys so much and I am so sorry about all that y’all are going through,” wrote another viewer.
“Don’t feel pressure to keep posting if you can’t. What’s more important is your mental health. Love y’all.”
STILL FRIENDS
In an 18-minute video, the couple explained their reasons for the breakup but said they’re still very close.
“We did break up, as a couple. We’re still really close as friends and care very deeply about each other,” said Christianson.
“But I think as individuals, when — like I said, the most important thing is working on yourself, and when the other significant other doesn’t provide that or help better themselves or the other person, I think they might need time for themselves or apart. And I think that’s what is best for us,” he continued.
“Doesn’t mean change is bad. Change is good. You have to learn to grow.”
Eckstein said she still loves and cares for Christianson and wants the best for both of them, saying that they have spent a “big chunk” of their lives together and on YouTube.
However, the relationship began to change as time went on.
“For our relationship, we felt more like friends than a couple. You know, we both can have so much fun with each other and are super silly and everything,” said Eckstein.
“Some things, we didn’t really understand each other, and we aren’t able to give each other everything that we need in a partner, and we realize that.”
Since their YouTube and influencer careers relied so heavily on their relationship, the two said it didn’t “feel right to pretend to still be in a relationship and be a couple when, you know, we don’t really feel like it.”
Despite the breakup, the exes confirmed that they will still be making content in the future, with Christianson revealing that he made his own YouTube channel, called @pinkshirtsingle.
“Whatever choice you guys make, whether you choose to continue to watch Cayden or I or both or you don’t want to watch us anymore, we understand,” said Eckstein.
“It is 100% your choice, we never expect you guys to support or even for you guys to watch us. We just appreciate it.”
