Thrilled with her patio’s overhaul, the brunette beauty took to social media to share a before and after look of her transformation, leaving many open-mouthed.

At the start of her short clip, we saw the mother standing on her patio, prior to her renovation project.

She then confirmed: “This might be controversial but…I painted my patio slabs!”

What was once a grubby looking patio has since been transformed, as moments later, Shelley shared her patio’s fresh new look.

Thanks to a quick lick of paint, the patio is much brighter and cleaner, and even makes the space appear bigger.

The DIY fan claimed that she isn’t bothered if it doesn’t last, as she loves her patio makeover.

She wrote: “Will it last?! I don’t care as my husband built the patio as a temporary measure until we can afford to do the garden.”

She then explained: “I absolutely love it!”

Shelley revealed that she used a Dulux Weathershield Paint in the shade Sandstone, which you can buy from B&Q.

For a 10L tub, it’s currently £42.

As well as this, she confirmed that after painting, she sealed the patio with a patio sealer that she nabbed from B&Q.

Sika’s Natural Patio sealer, 5L is priced at £29.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @home_across_the_swale, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 731,900 views.

But social media users were left massively divided by Shelley’s patio overhaul – whilst some thought it looked ‘great’, others weren’t so convinced.

There are reasons why no landscaper or tradesman that lays patio ever recommends this as an option

One user snapped: “With the great British weather [it] probably won’t last very long. Will take a lot of upkeep.”

A second agreed: “Get used to doing it every six to 12 months – waste of time.”

Another user claimed: “Will look great for approximately two days.”

And someone else penned: “There are reasons why no landscaper or tradesman that lays patio ever recommends this as an option. Yet people still do it.”

How to repair broken patio slabs

THE paving specialists at Simply Paving told Fabulous how you can repair broken patio slabs, without the faff.

The experts advised: “If you have a loose paving slab, then it’s unlikely it can be lifted straight by hand. Instead, you will probably need a hammer and chisel to prise the paver free of your patio.

“To remove loose paving slabs without damaging your flagstones, carefully chip away at the mortar around the paving slab with the plugging chisel and rubber mallet until the slab comes completely loose.

“Then, slide the spade into the gap left by the mortar and prise the paver free of the patio.

“As you lift it up, place a short piece of timber underneath the spade to act as a lever, making it easier for you while protecting the slab underneath.

“When the paver starts to give, place the cylindrical wood underneath it and roll the slab out of the patio.”
