EVERY woman has had to turn detective at some point, whether it’s investigating a potential partner before a first date or checking up what your other half is up to.
One woman, however, has found an unusual way to suss out that her spouse was cheating – via a fitness app.
If you needed another reason to sign up an exercise app, this might be it.
Ironically though, the influencer had originally signed up to the Strava app to achieve her fitness goals – not check whether her ‘weasel’ hubby was having an affair.
Sadly though, this is exactly what happened to this unlucky influencer.
Like many Strava users, the content creator had hoped to track her runs using the map feature and improve her pace.
She and her husband even followed each other to offer encouragement, not knowing that the social media app would soon bring about the end of their marriage.
Recalling her discovery on Tiktok, she revealed that alarm bells started to ring when her husband kept refusing to join her during workouts.
She said: “I offer to go on runs with him, and he would make up some excuse about how he would. He was gonna run too far for me. I wouldn’t keep up.”
The biggest red flag though was when her other half suddenly announced that they were going ‘on a break’.
Fearing that something was behind this sudden change of heart, the US woman decided to investigate.
“This is when I started digging in and saying, ‘something bigger must be going on here’. So immediately, I started becoming like an FBI detective,” she joked.
She quickly realised why her husband had been so against her joining his runs, after noticing that he would only run half a mile to the same location – every time.
“What I ended up finding through the Strava running maps was that he would start his run at our house and he would end it at her house,” the new divorcee revealed.
“So while this didn’t tell me the whole story, it sure gave me a lot of reassurance about who he was cheating on me with and what he was doing all those times he was gone,” she added.
Despite her heartbreak, the Tiktok star has managed to see the funny side and joked in the caption that she is ‘applying to the FBI’.
Though you’d think finding out in this way would be pretty rare, others shared similarly shocking stories in the comment.
As the video rapidly went viral, one user wrote: “I found out my ex cheated on me when the Airbnb host left a review about how ‘he and X’ were such great guests.”
“I found out thru Venmo, those outlying social apps are wild,” revealed another unlucky in love viewer.
A third had even had a similar experience, writing: “I would always join on bike [rides]…. Then he started to suggest I didn’t… caught him red handed out with other girls – numerous times…Live laugh Strava.”
Meanwhile, others were impressed with the content creator’s ‘awesome FBI skills’.
“Starting with ‘that little weasel’ immediately caught my attention but I didn’t expect a story like this!” said a fourth, adding: “…so sorry you went through this! but great detective work!!
Whilst the truth might hurt, at least she has put the relationship behind her.
