While using TikTok, you’ve probably seen users posting pictures in the comments. Here’s everything you need to know about the feature.
If you’ve ever seen TikTok users posting photos and GIFs instead of text in the comments and wondered how to do it, you’re not alone.
Although TikTok doesn’t officially allow all users to comment with images, there are some methods – though limited and region-specific – to achieve this.
TikTok’s photo comment feature is not universally available. To see if you can use it, follow these steps:
- Open the comment section on any TikTok video.
- Tap the comment field where you’d usually type.
- Look for a photo icon (typically on the right side).
If the icon appears, you can post a photo directly in the comments. If it doesn’t, the feature may not be available in your region or on your device.
Even if you don’t have the photo icon, you might still be able to reply to an existing comment using a photo. Here’s how:
- Tap the comment you want to reply to.
- Select the video camera option.
- Choose ‘Photo.’
- Upload a picture.
Keep in mind, replying with a photo creates a new TikTok post, which will appear on your profile. This method isn’t ideal if you want to keep your profile clutter-free.
Use a VPN
The photo comment feature is rumored to be primarily available in Egypt and on certain Android devices. If you’re outside the supported regions, some users suggest using a VPN to access the feature:
- Disable localization in TikTok settings.
- Download and activate an Egypt-based VPN.
- Create a new TikTok account while connected to the VPN.
This method is not guaranteed to work, and switching back to your original account may remove the feature.
Join TikTok’s Beta Tester Program
TikTok often tests new features in beta versions. Joining TikTok’s beta program might give you early access to features like photo commenting:
- Android: Visit Google Play Beta to sign up.
- iPhone: Download TestFlight and join TikTok Beta.
These options are experimental, but they might help you access features earlier than others.
