House of the Dragon has officially kicked off production on season three!
They are now filming the 8-episode third season over in the UK.
The HBO hit also announced three cast additions, though one was already known.
This season will see the return of Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and more.

Tommy Flanagan – New Cast Member!
Tommy Flanagan has been cast as Ser Roderick Dustin in season three. According to EW, his character is “the Lord of Barrowton and the head of House Dustin in the north who goes by the nickname ‘Roddy the Ruin.’”

Dan Fogler – New Cast Member!
Dan Fogler has been cast as Ser Torrhen Manderly in season three. He’s a “knight of House Manderly in the north.”

James Norton – New Cast Member!
As previously announced, James Norton will be playing Ormund Hightower.
Who is Ormund? His official description notes that he is “Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).”
