The first casting update for the third season of House of the Dragon has arrived!

The Game of Thrones spinoff show starring Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke as best friends turned rivals in a fight for the Iron Throne aired its second season in late 2024.

A third and fourth season have already been announced, with the show expected to conclude after that.

On Friday (January 31), we learned that a new star had joined the cast of the show, and his role was revealed!

James Norton, who fans will recognize from projects like Happy Valley is the first actor to be cast in House of the Dragon Season 3. Variety exclusively broke the news that he will be playing Ormund Hightower.

Who is Ormund? His official description notes that he is “Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).”
