You are what you eat, per Klum. “For me, beauty is all about food. There is only so much you can do topically. I learned that a really long time ago. I’ve been in this industry since 1992 and I’ve always believed you are what you eat. Having said that, a lot of work has to go into every meal to make sure you’ve got all of the fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants and hydration you need. We can’t do it all because it’s a lot of work to prepare,” she told WWW. “Often, I’ll find the time to do the prep (like put chia seeds in to soak overnight), but not everyone has the time and freedom to do things like this, especially as we get older! I find that a supplement is a great add-on to my already pretty healthy diet. A couple of years ago I started taking one Perfectil a day because I was getting older and thought, ‘What do I have to lose?!’ Of course, no pill will solve your beauty problems. Food always comes first, but I do think it’s a good boost.”

Heidi refuses to starve herself to stay slender. “The myth that models don’t eat is totally not true,” she told Shape. “I just think that because we’re in this business, we have to choose more wisely.” Fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins are her go-to food sources.

Heidi is all about the occasional cheat meal. “It’s important to keep a balanced diet, but I’m not a fan of deprivation,” she told Shape. “If I want a cheeseburger, I am not only going to eat that cheeseburger, but I’m going to enjoy that cheeseburger.”

One fruit and veggie filled smoothie a day keeps aging away for Klum. “In 2013, I made a New Year’s resolution to drink a fruit and veggie smoothie every morning. It’s one of those that went from a resolution to a life habit. My kids and I do it together, and we love it,” she told Shape.

Klum is a fan of intermittent fasting. “My last [meal] is at 6 p.m.,” she revealed to ET. “I eat with my kids, so I think that also helps a little bit. I think that when you eat a little on the earlier side, it has time to digest and I think it is a little bit better for your body.”

Another way Klum ensures healthy eating is by cooking her own meals and avoiding restaurant food. “[I] have four children, so we cook a lot. I don’t really eat out a lot,” she admitted to ET. “I think when you eat out a lot or order food in a lot, it kind of gets a little tricky, because you don’t know what people are putting in there.”
