- Guinness has set aside $1 million to help people celebrate the grand return of St. Patrick’s Day, as the brand behind the iconic Irish stout is giving out $50,000 prizes to twenty lucky drinkers
I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here, but it seems like this might be the first time in a couple of years that you won’t have to think twice about celebrating St. Patrick Day the way the man who inspired it would’ve wanted you to: by linking up with some friends at a bar for an occasion fueled by some pints of Guinness.
There’s a good chance it’s been a couple of years since the last time you had the opportunity to throw back glasses of the foamy elixir amidst a sea of people clad in green novelty t-shirts and a collection of shamrock necklaces—and if that’s the case, you may not remember the sinking feeling that can come with looking at your tab whenever you decide to close.
Thankfully, Guinness is here to help with that particular issue, as the brand has reserved $1 million for what’s been dubbed the “Great Reunion Toast” to give some lucky people the chance to treat themselves—and plenty of others—to a truly glorious holiday.
If you want the take advantage of the opportunity to be one of the 20 people who will take home a cool $50,000 in the coming weeks, you can head over to toast.guinness.com and upload a video that proves you “embody the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and Guinness” (assuming you’re of legal drinking age and are able to film something that lasts no more than 30 seconds). Official rules at toast.guinness.com.
SIGN UP FOR THE GUINNESS GREAT REUNION TOAST
You’ll be allowed to choose what to do with the money if you end up taking home the prize, but you’ll probably owe it to your friends to pick of the tab when the night comes to an end if you do (or maybe make some new ones by treating an entire bar to a round of Guinness).
Good luck—and, more, importantly, sláinte.
