A group of people, a woman named Amber, her husband, and his cousin, were searching for a camper named Janelle who got lost in Arizona when they spotted what they believe was a Bigfoot. They claim to have encountered the mythical creature as they were looking in Yavapai County for a woman who disappeared in an area near Sedona called the Edge of the World.

She reported the encounter to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). In Amber’s report, she wrote, “We were using a spotlight at night to look through the trees and brush. We saw it about 75 yards from us. He was probably about 7 foot tall, at least 400lbs and really wide body and shoulders. He was hairy with matted white and brown hair around his flat hairless leathery face. His eyes reflected a golden color. He just stared at us. After a few minutes we got scared and left as fast as we could.”

She also revealed that in the hours leading up to their encounter with Bigfoot they heard what she described as “tree knocks.” Bigfoots are well-known for their distinct, loud knocks which many attribute to being either a form of communication with other Bigfoots, the marking of its territory, a mating call, or way of alerting other creatures to danger in the area.

Her husband, who Amber said is “is a hunter and knows the wildlife,” was stunned when it turned out to be the legendary creature. “He said he knows what he [saw] and that’s his only explanation for what he [saw]. It did look like a Bigfoot and really scared him a lot. He does not scare easy,” she wrote.

The lost camper also reported a scary encounter

“The next day the hiker was found in a canyon,” she continued. “We talked to her afterwards. She said she walked away from her camp and then she saw something glowing like glowing lights or something. It moved towards her and that’s what scared her. She ran from it and that led to her falling down the canyon. She was a ways down and lucky to be alive after that fall.”

This was confirmed later by the Janelle’s sister who told the media that she had “been “spooked by something” after getting lost in the darkened woods. She managed to avoid any life-threatening injuries and broken bones, but as her sister said, “There’s obviously the mental toll of … the trauma of not just falling but being in the canyon alone. That’s a different battle that she’ll have to deal with.”

BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker spoke with two of the witnesses and stated in his follow-up report, “Amber got the phone number of Janelle’s mother. I asked Amber to text Janelle’s mother to see if I could speak with Janelle about what spooked her that night. Amber texted the mother who eventually replied saying her daughter was still traumatized by the ordeal and by what she saw. She didn’t want to talk about it.”
