GRIMES Apologized after suffering several technical difficulties during her Coachella set over the weekend.
The 36-year-old DJ shouted angrily down her mic at the technicians after her tracks played quicker than usual during Saturday’s performance.
Grimes made a grand entrance to Coachella on the back of a mechanical spider, according to Variety.
She took place behind her DJ booth and performed the first 50 minutes of her set without problems.
Around halfway into her show, the electronic singer had to restart her decks several times as her music was playing too quickly.
Grimes grabbed the mic and shouted down to the audience that she did not know what was happening.
“This is insane. All my tracks are double the tempo,” she said while letting out a few shrieks.
“This is a difficult thing to explain but we’re having a major technical error. Don’t judge me for being bad at calculating things.”
Grimes continued apologizing to the audience as she tried to fix the issue, but failed to get her track’s tempo back to normal.
She eventually decided to change her set and play a few unreleased tracks to try and get the audience’s attention back.

“I’m trying to think. I’m not good enough at math for this s**t,” she told the confused crowd.
After several comments that this year’s Coachella was the “worst ever,” Grimes took to X, formerly Twitter, to apologize to her fans.
“I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight. I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself,” she wrote.
Grimes explained her technical issues and stated that she usually organizes everything.
“I will personally organize all the files next week. I will not let such a thing happen again,” she promised.
Grimes explained that she has learnt from her mistakes and will adjust her set for when she performs next week.
The star also claimed she was in a “bad mood,” following the incident.
CRITIC’S CORNER
Social media fans slammed Grimes on X after her performance.
“I love the irony of Grimes being a weird techno-futurist who wants humanity to merge with AI and create a transhumanist libertarian utopia and then f**king up her Coachella set due to technical difficulties,” wrote a follower.
“I bet Grimes was paid hella cash to headline Coachella, and she has a meltdown after exposing herself cos she didn’t make her own playlist and doesn’t know how the work the decks,” added another.
Grimes’ Full Apology
I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight. I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm’s and letting someone else organize the tracks on the sd card etc. i had a bad feeling beforehand not having run everything thru the cdjs myself and tho I flagged it I wasn’t insistent. the big lesson for me was a mix of 1 if u want it done right, do it yrself 2 be a cunt even if ppl feel bad 3 probably pretend it’s fine and engage w the crowd rather than spend a whole show slumped over the desk trying to fix software when ur meant to be entertaining. I will personally organize all the files next week. I will not let such a thing happen again. I’ve spent months on this show, making music and visuals, and admittedly am not in the best mood atm But, yeh – next week will be flawless, everything will run thru my hands Some good lessons learned. Bless y’all. The cdjs were showing me bpms like 370 so I couldn’t even mix manually by ear and the front monitors were off so it was literally sonic chaos on my end trying to guess how stuff was sounding for u guys Plz forgive me! Love, always
“Put in the time, understand DJ decks, avoid embarrassment like this. Fraud.”
“Grimes basically forgot how to DJ, started just playing tracks, and eventually got cut off mid-song because she was overtime lmao that’s all the Coachella I’ll ever need, thank you,” said a third.
“Grimes is bombing so bad at Coachella right now,” shared an audience member who watched the set live.
