Green Day will perform two of their classic albums, Dookie and America Idiot, in full at each stop of their upcoming stadium tour.
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt confirmed the band’s plans in an interview with Rolling Stone. “What a fuckin’ moment it’s going to be,” Dirnt said. “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
Green Day’s “The Saviors Tour” coincides with the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. The band has played Dookie in full on a special few occasions over the years, but never so on a full-fledged tour. They’ve also never before played American Idiot in its entirety in concert.
Dirnt estimates that it’ll take 90 minutes for Green Day to perform the two albums, leaving 35 to 45 minutes of the band’s set for “other stuff,” including material from their new album, Saviors.
“The Saviors Tour,” which features special guests Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas, will launch on May 30th in Spain, with the North American leg kicking off on July 29th in Washington, DC. Tickets to the tour are available here.
