Last night, Connecticut jamband Goose performed their first of two headlining sets at Daze Between New Orleans, located at the Crescent City’s Faubourg Brewery. Their performance followed a full day, including a lovely panel titled Help on the Way: The Legacy of the Grateful Dead and Their Grassroots Charitable Mission, moderated by Relix editor-in-chief Dean Budnick, with the Executive Director of the Rex Foundation (and former Grateful Dead manager) Cameron Sears and Soulive’s Eric Krasno, along with musical performances by New Orleans’ own Tank and the Bangas, New York-bred soul-pop group sibling duo Lawrence, another New York City export Melt, along with adored local acts J & The Causeways and The Quickening.
Daze Between New Orleans livestreamed the incredible musical performances, with proceeds from the event going to grants for various New Orleans-based causes through the festival’s charitable partner, the Rex Foundation. Today’s gathering–which will also be livestreamed–will have musical appearances by David Shaw, Neil Francis, The Meters bassist and New Orleans legend George Porter Jr. and his Runnin’ Pardners, Eggy and local ensemble, the Honey Island Swamp Band. There will also be a panel titled New Orleans Festival Express: Examining What Makes Festivals in New Orleans so Special, featuring The Revivalists’ David Shaw, Neal Francis, Eggy’s Jake Brownstein and Reed Mathis. The conversation will be moderated by Relix editor-in-chief Mike Greenhaus.
Along with the livestream and ticket sales, Daze Between New Orleans will raise funds through on-site initiatives, including a charity auction. The virtual auction is live now and will run until the end of the event on Wednesday, May 3. The auction items include instruments signed by the artists on the lineup, tickets to 2023 festivals like Suwannee Hulaween, High Sierra Music Festival, and North Beach Music Festival, a year-long subscription to Relix Magazine, various merch bundles, and more.
