The Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef has been taken way, way too far by some fans, but other fans, who are taking it much less seriously, they are having a good laugh with it… on GoFundMe?
Yep, that’s right. Apparently, fans of the two famous rappers are taking to GoFundMe to express their feelings about how the beef is progressing.
Regardless of who is actually winning this beef – some claim Kendrick Lamar has won, while others think Drake took the dub – the real winners are those of us watching from the sidelines.
While numerous people flocked to GoFundMe hoping to capitalize financially from the disagreement or jokingly are trying to raise money for one of the rapper’s burial, the popular crowdfunding website tells TMZ that none of them received any donations before being shut down.
“We can confirm we are monitoring the platform for related fundraiser starts and will remove any that have not been authorized by the recipient of the funds. $0 has been raised. We have zero tolerance for the misuse of our platform,” a GoFundMe representative told TMZ.
Not that they didn’t try. The amount of money being requested in these fake fundraisers ranged from $10,000 all the way up to $616,000.
And while creating a fake crowdfunding page over a beef between two rappers is juvenile and in some cases a little nefarious, it is far less harmful than what’s been happening in the real world.
On Tuesday, it was reported that there was a drive-by shooting outside of Drake’s home in Toronto, with someone, reportedly Drake’s security guard, actually being injured.
That was followed by another report that Drake’s OVO store in London had been vandalized.
