Gisele Bündchen has broken her silence on the heartbreaking death of her mother, Vânia Nonnenmacher. Gisele’s mom, a retired banker, passed away at the age of 75 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

For the first time, Bündchen confirmed the painful passing of her beloved mother with a touching tribute shared on Instagram. “Beloved mom, It hurts to know that I won’t be able to hug you anymore, but I know that you will always be watching over us,” the grieving supermodel penned alongside a carousel of sweet moments shared with her mom.
The upload included sweet photos of Nonnenmacher bonding with her two children, Vivian and Benjamin. The tribute continued, “You were an angel on earth, always helping everyone around you. I am so grateful to be your daughter and to have learned from you.”
Bündchen expressed gratitude to her late mother for “being the best role model of love, strength, compassion, courage, and grace.” She added, “I will forever cherish the beautiful memories we shared and will live by the values you taught me. You will live forever through the many lives that you touched.”
Concluding the tear-jerking post, the renowned model penned, “Thank you for giving me five best friends for life. Your love will always guide us. I will see you in my dreams. Love you ❤️.”
In a follow-up Instagram Story update, the Brazillian model uploaded a picture of the scenic sunset with a caption that translates to, “Mothers never die. They stayed up late, dyed their hair with clouds, and watched the sunset,” a quote from Marcos Luedy.
Per reports, Bündchen’s mother, Vânia Nonnenmacher passed away on Sunday following her battle with cancer. She died at Hospital Moinhos de Vento in Porto Alegre. The late Nonnenmacher married Valdir Bündchen, a university professor. The couple welcomed six daughters, including Gisele and her twin sister Patricia.
Sources revealed there will be a wake for Nonnenmacher at the Metropolitan Crematorium in Porto Alegre’s Ecumenical Chapel on Monday morning, after which a farewell ceremony will follow.
The last time Bündchen spoke about her mother before her demise was in November 2022 to mark Nonnenmacher’s 73rd birthday. “Happy birthday, Mom! I am forever grateful for all that you have done and continue to do for us. Thank you for always loving, inspiring, and teaching us. Thank you for giving me life! Love you so much,” she wrote at the time.
Weeks ago, in her January cover for Harper’s Baazar, Gisele credited Nonnenmacher for inspiring her meal planning, “If we had [a] barbecue on Sundays, all the rest of the meat would go to arroz carreteiro on Mondays, which was just rice and meat mixed with some onions and tomatoes.”
