GILMORE Girls alum Lauren Graham opened up about nearly having a romance with the late Matthew Perry.
On Friday, Lauren, 57, shared fond memories of the late actor during her Q&A session.
While on her book tour for Have I Told You This Already? in Washington, D.C., the Gilmore Girls star spoke with the audience at the Lincoln Theatre.
She talked about her friendship with her former Odd Couple co-star.
“It’s still really hard to believe,” Graham said via Deadline.
“While he was not technically ever a boyfriend, he was an almost in my life.
She went on to describe him as “a friend and a constant.”
“We would stretch for a year, then he would come back in my life, and he had just come back in my life last year.”
When the Bad Santa star celebrated her birthday in March 2023, she admitted the Friends alum gifted her a pickleball set.
“He’s like really into tennis and pickleball, with a card that said, ‘Be older,’ ” she recalled.
MATTHEW’S BOOK
In 2022, Matthew, 54, paid tribute to his relationship with the Parenthood star in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.
He shared a throwback photo of the pair in his book.
“Me and the beautiful Lauren Graham,” the caption read.
Also during the session, Lauren revealed how Matthew felt about his memoir being published.
“The solace I take from having seen him at the time I saw him was he was so thrilled with how his book was received.
“And not just because it was a huge success, but because his life’s work, kind of became, ‘How can I give back? How can I talk about the struggles I had and hopefully help someone else?’” she closed.
MATTHEW’S DEATH
In October 2023, Matthew died in his hot tub due to the “acute effects of ketamine,” according to an autopsy report.

The report also revealed that other factors contributed to his death, including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine.
‘ONLY BRIGHT SPOT’
In a 2016 online feature for The Daily Mail, Graham reminisced about being single in Hollywood.
Although she became the breakout star of Gilmore Girls, she ended up attending events solo.
“The only bright spot, men-wise, was at an event where I met Matthew Perry,” Lauren jokingly wrote.
“He became my Friend Who I Almost But Never Exactly Dated.”
The two first met when they were filming the indie comedy Birds of America in 2008 and kept close as friends afterward.
