General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) is finally breaking his silence about his role on GH and what the future holds. When Chavez departed to film Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, fans were led to believe it’d be a temporary leave of absence.
The show went with a presumed demise for Spencer that set up what could potentially be an epic comeback, so many viewers held out hope that Chavez would return for Spencer’s reunion with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).
However, that hope dwindled after Nicholas Alexander Chavez stopped following his old GH co-stars and several other accounts related to the show on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Chavez’s name also disappeared from the contract section of the closing credits – and then insiders began insisting his leave of absence would now be permanent.
Of course, fans have still been waiting to hear what Nicholas Alexander Chavez himself has to say about all this.
Chavez finally made a statement on social media, so let’s look at what he posted on X and talk about what it means.
For starters, Chavez expressed his gratitude for the opportunity that he was given to play Spencer and talked about all the people who played a role in his success.
After Chavez hinted about how busy he’d become professionally, he indicated that it wouldn’t have happened without that talented group at GH.
From there, Chavez opened up about his relationship with Executive Producer Frank Valentini and confirmed that he’s out as Spencer Cassadine.
“Frank Valentini is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show.
While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles,” Chavez said.
That makes it sound like Chavez is perhaps leaving the door open for his eventual return – or maybe he’s offered his approval on the show recasting and giving Spencer a future another way.
Regardless, Chavez was clear about the “no current plans” to return part, so that confirms this isn’t a temporary leave of absence and has become a real exit.
As Chavez wrapped up his post, he took a moment to thank all the GH fans who supported him, particularly the “Sprina” fans – “who must be THE most loyal and kind fan base in the universe of entertainment.”
Chavez once again expressed his gratitude and sent his love, so now we finally have his official statement on where things stand.
Now the show will have to decide whether to recast Spencer Cassadine – and if they do, they’ll need to determine how soon the new actor should make his debut.
