Galaxy Quest Remastered in 4K Ultra HD for 25th Anniversary

It’s been a quarter century since Dean Parisot’s affectionate Star Trek spoof, Galaxy Quest, first premiered in theaters. Now, in celebration of the 25th anniversary, a 4K Ultra HD remaster of the cult sci-fi flick has been announced.

Scheduled to arrive on December 13th via Paramount Home Entertainment, the re-release of Galaxy Quest was remastered under the supervision of Parisot, and will be available as a standard release and as a limited-edition SteelBook. Both variations will include reflections from Parisot, as well as deleted scenes, the original theatrical trailer, a previously-created Thermian language dub of the film, and more bonus content.

Plus, in addition to the 4K Ultra HD — with Dolby Vision and HDR-10 — the film’s audio has been revamped with Dolby Atmos sound, with the filmmakers striving for “the most immersive home viewing experience.” Pre-orders for the re-release are ongoing.

Originally released on Christmas Day, 1999, Galaxy Quest has become a beloved film for its comedic parody of sci-fi tropes and the stellar performances from it’s cast, which included Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Justin Long, Rainn Wilson, and others.

Last year, it was announced that Paramount+ was developing a Galaxy Quest TV series.
