Francine Lewis is feeling fit and healthy – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the star reveals that she just spent a week working on herself at a fitness retreat, showing off the results in a two-piece exercise set. “My week @no1fitnessretreats was life changing and I can’t wait to go back!” she writes in the Instagram video caption. “I love keeping fit not only for the sake of my body but my mind too.” How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
In the caption she explained why she went on the retreat. “I decided to really challenge myself this year by improving my fitness levels,” she said, revealing that it was “a week of intense training.” She admits that after 24 hours, she considered giving up. “But after the first full day of training and eating three very healthy tasty meals without gluten, dairy or sugar and an early night the next day I felt incredible,” she said, adding that she trained 6 hours a day but would rest if needed. “But I never wanted to rest as I was loving every session. It almost became addictive. I never knew I could train that hard or was as strong and fit as I am,” she added. “And by the end of the week I wished I could have stayed longer. I met some amazing people and we became a big happy family. We hiked, did spinning, weight training, boxing, circuits, and even played fun games for team building with our lovely trainer Ally. Finishing every day with an Ice Bath which I never thought I would be able to do. I honestly have never felt so good. I felt happy and full of energy. My skin was glowing too. We also had nutrition lessons and I learned so much about my body and how to continue staying healthy.”
Francine makes sure to indulge in self-care. “Happiness is when your in a swimming pool!! Had the most amazing few days away and loved using the spa. It’s been a while so we all really enjoyed it,” she captioned this post. Don’t feel guilty getting spa treatments! For example, the Mayo Clinic endorses massage for self-care. These include stress reduction, lessening pain and muscle tightness, increased relaxation, and improved immunity.
Francine wakes up and brews a cup of water with lemon in the morning. “I often take one to bed with me ready for the morning and then will also get a fresh hot water with lemon once I’m up,” she wrote in a blog post detailing her morning routine.
Francine encourages daily movement. “Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to enroll in 6am spinning classes or endure an intense bout of exercise in the gym first thing in the morning. It’s all about figuring out what form of physical activity that you personally enjoy and that will help push you to get out of bed. This could be going for a walk, doing some yoga in your living room, dancing while you eat your breakfast… whatever floats your boat!” she wrote on her blog.
Francine is a big advocate of not skipping breakfast. “They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but you should also try and make it one of the most enjoyable. So many of us dismiss a proper morning meal as a waste of time, instead choosing to rush out of the house with an insubstantial cereal bar. However, indulging in a flavorsome breakfast can give your spirits an incredible lift,” she wrote on her blog.
