Fontaines D.C. are back with “It’s Amazing to Be Young,” an anthemic new single that arrives as their first new music of 2025.
Demonstrating the 2024 Band of the Year’s ability to convey lived experience with resonant rock songs, “It’s Amazing to Be Young” has a sentimental feel, inspired by its origins. “[It] was written in the presence of a newborn child — Carlos’ child,” the band’s Conor Deegan III said in a statement.

“It sounded more like a lullaby or a music box then, but with the same lyric — ‘it’s amazing to be young,’” Deegan continued. “The feeling of hope a child can give is profound and moving, especially for young men like us. That sense of wanting to create a world for them to grow up in happily. It’s a feeling that fights against the cynicism that can often overtake us in the modern world. So we wanted to declare which side we were on — it really is amazing to be young.”
The single arrived along with a music video directed by frequent collaborator Luna Carmoon, marking the finale of a three-part series that began with the videos for Fontaines D.C.’s “Here’s The Thing” and “In The Modern World.” Watch the new video below.
“It’s Amazing to Be Young” will also be accompanied by a new B-side, “Before You I Just Forget,” on a 7-inch vinyl release from XL Recordings.
Meanwhile, Fontaines D.C. were recently nominated in two categories at the 2025 Grammys for their 2024 album, Romance, named by Consequence as the second best album of 2024.
Up next, the band will hit the road in April for the North American leg of their ongoing world tour, stopping in Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, Detroit, and more cities this spring. Get tickets here.
