Flavor Flav has once again proven to be a man of his word by delivering on his promise to get a custom bronze clock necklace made for US gymnast Jordan Chiles after she was ordered to return a bronze medal.
The Public Enemy rapper posted the jewelry on his Instagram page late Monday night (August 12th) while shouting out jeweler Rock’n Stones. “USA gonna Fight The Powers that be,” Flavor Flav wrote in the caption, “but in the meantime between time, I gots yo back @jordanchiles Hit me up 👍🏾”
Though Chiles is understandably not on social media right now, her mother Gina told Flavor Flav on Twitter that the gesture “means the world” and promised to share it with her daughter.
Chiles competed in the individual floor exercise competition at the Paris Olympics and was awarded a bronze medal after an appeal from her coach adjusted her score. However, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation then filed an appeal of their own that reversed the decision after it was ruled Chiles’ coach made her appeal four seconds too late.
As a result, the International Olympic Committee announced on August 11th that the bronze medal had been reallocated to Romanian gymnast Ana Bărbosu. USA Gymnastics has challenged the ruling with video evidence of Chiles’ coach appealing in time and has vowed to “pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal.”
Flavor Flav previously made his mark at the Olympics by signing a five-year sponsorship deal supporting the US water polo teams. Now that the Paris Games are over, he has a string of upcoming shows with Public Enemy, including Riot Fest and an Australian run in October. Get tickets here.
Thank you. Means the world. She’s not on socials right now as you can imagine. I’ll share it with her. 🫶🏽 https://t.co/HzavHHYxhp
