The first poster for James Gunn’s film Superman has been released ahead of the release of the first teaser trailer on Thursday, December 19. The poster is a motion poster, as it also features the first snippet of the film’s score.
As tuned-in Superman fans have noticed, the score for Superman seems to be paying homage to both the iconic John Williams score for the original Superman film in 1978 (specifically at the end of the clip) and Hans Zimmer’s rendition from 2013’s Man of Steel.
Superman, which stars relative unknown David Corenswet in the lead role, will release in movie theaters on Friday, July 11, 2025.
Look Up.

“My favorite reveal so far in this Superman marketing cycle. If this is also a first listen at John Murphy’s score, I can appreciate the softer redux of the 1978 score. Almost feels like a mix of Williams and Zimmer,” one thrilled fan said.
Not all comic book movie fans were thrilled, however, as some bemoaned the lack of originality.
“Wow this sounds beautiful and reminiscent of Zimmer’s man of steel score while still sounding new and fres- oh god f—— dammit it turned into the John Williams melody,” read one frustrated post.
“The fact that they are using John Williams’ theme from the Christopher Reeves films already confirms to me that this movie is gonna be dead on arrival. Like….?!?! What a stupid f—— choice. Where’s your own identity?” another bemoaned.

Alongside Corenswet, Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Skyler Gisondo, Nicholas Hoult, Terence Rosemore, Wendell Pierce, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and more.
Superman, helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker James Gunn, will be the first official live-action film in the DCU, Warner Bros. attempted reboot of their DC brand following the largely disastrous decade of the DCEU (which began with Man of Steel and ended with Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom).
