A recent visitor to Dores Beach in Scotland claims to have seen the Loch Ness Monster. Not only that, he was also able to snap a quick photo using his Google Pixel 8 Pro that may or may not be proof that the mythical creature really exists.

The Loch Ness Monster sighting reportedly lasted for several minutes, according to the witness who has only been identified as John. The Loch Ness Centre in Drumnadrochit has reviewed his photo (which can be viewed here) and are saying that it is the first potential sighting of the Loch Ness Monster in 2025.

“We’ve had numerous observations over the years, but this recent sighting has been particularly captivating,” The Herald reports Nagina Ishaq, general manager of the Loch Ness Centre, said. “The conditions on the day of this sighting were absolutely perfect. This could very well be our first significant sighting of the year, further fueling the mystery surrounding Loch Ness and its most famous resident.”

Ishaq continued, the Mirror reports, saying, “As always, we are committed to solving the mystery of Nessie once and for all. Our previous collaborations with the University of Aberdeen and Loch Ness Exploration allowed us to advance our research efforts significantly, and this potential sighting is a reminder that the mystery of Loch Ness is far from solved.”

While the Loch Ness Centre is calling this photo the first official sighting of the Loch Ness Monster in 2025, another observer claimed to have seen the cryptid a month ago. Nessie hunter Eoin O’Faodhagain, who captured the video and has recorded more than two dozen sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, recorded footage of what he believes was the creature from of a Visit Inverness Loch Ness webcam.

“It could be the first genuine Nessie Sighting of 2025,” O’Faodhagain said about the footage. “January would not be a popular month for Nessie sightings, maybe because there are fewer pleasure craft out on the loch.”

In October of 2024, advanced sonar technology used to explore the depths of Loch Ness picked up a massive anomaly. That discovery came just a few days after a ship captain with Cruise Loch Ness claimed that sonar on their vessel detected a large object somewhere deep underneath their boat.
