A CONTROVERSIAL influencer has shared how she transformed herself from a “scene kid” with a spiky mullet and thick eyeliner to a posh country woman.
A look at Lydia Millen’s social media profiles show a high-society woman with an enviable Hermès handbag collection, country mansion and luxury car collection – but it hasn’t always been this way.
The 35-year-old has shared an insight into her transformation, and how she ditched thick eyeliner and lip piercings for hair ribbons and pearls.
Lydia appeared on Grace Beverley’s Working Hard, Hardly Working podcast this week to discuss her rocky past.
She grew up in council housing in Watford and later went on to study retail marketing at Northampton University.
She spent time as a “scene kid” listening to “emo music”, as well as an expat in Ibiza partying as hard as she was working.
In new pictures shared by the lifestyle influencer, she sported ultra-mini dresses and skirts, a backcombed mane, thick eyeliner and a lip piercing.
In one snap, she even has a mullet with a spiky top and large pink earrings.
According to The Tab, Lydia worked for a lap dancing club selling laughing gas one summer in Ibiza, and later trained to become a beautician.
But she says that version of her is now “dead”.
In recent years, Lydia has carved herself a niche as a “posh influencer” who lives in a countryside mansion and harvests her own vegetables.
She records herself waltzing around the kitchen in a pinafore with her husband, and has even released a book helping others follow in her footsteps.
Her main advice for those wanting to transform themselves is to not let other peoples’ opinions bother you.
“If you let the opinions of others bother you, you’ll stay exactly where you are,” she said on TikTok.
“Don’t listen to anyone who points and laughs.”
Last year, Lydia was embroiled in controversy for booking into the exclusive Savoy Hotel after complaining about the broken heating in her Buckinghamshire mansion.
She has over one million followers on TikTok and Instagram who love seeing snippets into her luxury life.
But many were shocked by revelations of Lydia’s “emo phase”, with one fan dubbing it “the wildest thing they’ve ever seen”.
“I can’t even comprehend how you went from that to this,” another said.
Lydia married Alistair Keith Gordon on December 19, 2017, in a beautiful ceremony held at Aynhoe Park in Oxfordshire.
