It’s that time of year again when every single vacant storefront in your town suddenly turns into a Spirit Halloween for about two months.
But this year things are going to be different.
That’s because Spirit Halloween is set to transform several of its locations into Spirit Christmas this year following the completion of spooky season.
“Discover thousands of stocking stuffers, holiday apparel, fun gifts, unique décor, plus all the special trimmings for creating an unforgettable Christmas,” reads a brief description of Spirit Christmas on its official webpage.
The flagship location is set to open on Oct. 18. While all others will open in November, after Halloween.
“Our goal is to create a festive retail experience that captures the spirit of the season, much like we do for Halloween,” a spokesperson told CNN.
The company announced that Spirit Christmas stores will be filled with holiday-themed items including gifts, decorations and inflatables.
The stores will also include a “life-sized” gingerbread village and the opportunity to get a picture with Santa.
Spirit Halloween Absolutely Rakes In The Cash For The Months It’s Open
Now, personally, Spirit Halloween has always been a mystery to me.
For one, we have a Berenstain Bears situation where I could have sworn it was “Spirit of Halloween.” But I’ve also always wondered how in the world it’s a sustainable business model.
They open (physical locations) for two months and sell items that are only relevant for those two months!
But Halloween is big business.
In 2018, Vox reported that “Halloween spending is expected to reach $9 billion in 2018, with the average person participating in Halloween festivities spending an estimated $86.79, according to the National Retail Federation’s annual Halloween survey.”
Now they’re expanding that business. Which may seem like a risk, but people are into it!

Who knows, maybe a few years down the line we’ll have a Spirt Valentine’s Day or a Spirit St. Patrick’s Day?
