The Brooklyn composer and experimental musician Rachika Nayar and Philadelphia-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Nina Keith have formed a new duo. Together, they are Disiniblud. And, on July 18, Disinblud will release their self-titled debut album via Smugglers Way. The collaborative album is led by the singles “It’s Change” (featuring Willy Siegel, Katie Dey, and Julianna Barwick) and “Blue Rags, Raging Wind” (featuring Amigone). Listen to both of those songs below.
Nayar and Keith met four years ago in a park after gushing about each other’s music online, and shortly afterward, knew they would love to work together someday. Disiniblud is described as a “wordless conversation” between the two about mortality, reinvention, and childlike wonder. “It’s not about healing and moving past the darkness,” explained Nayar in a statement, with her collaborator adding: “It’s taking both with you in the satchel and carrying it with you everywhere you go. That’s the only way you can really metabolize it.”
In addition to the aforementioned featured artists, Disiniblud’s debut album boasts appearances from Cassandra Croft, June McDoom, Aspidistrafly, and Noriko Tujiko. Find the complete tracklist below.
