Happy Wednesday friends!
You didn’t think the Paris content was ending anytime soon, did you!? 😜
Today I’m sharing a look I wore for our second to last day in Paris–it was a big day exploring the left bank, cooking macarons at La Cuisine, and ending with an amazing Eiffel Tower Picnic organized by the wonderful Yanique of My Parisian Life! (Details on all those forthcoming in my Paris recap post–travel recaps take a bit longer to compile than outfit posts 😂 thanks for your patience!)
How to Style Sezane’s Striped Mariniere Top
I wore the same striped Sezane top both for day and night and thought this was the perfect travel outfit formula–I was so happy Victoria was around to document. 💛
I purchased this top during our Sezane shopping trip (as part of the Atlas Adventures Paris group tour, we arranged a private shopping experience at Sezane and it was one of the highlights of the trip!) and while I adore everything I bought, I have to say I have gotten the most wear so far out of this top! In fact, I have been wanting it for YEARS and have just never actually taken the plunge. I’m so glad I did! Funny enough, Whitney, Rebecca and I all bought different colors! (This always happens with us. 😆) We had to all wear them the same day, of course–but we all styled them differently!
If you are new to Sezane, they are an iconic French brand that makes the most beautiful classic, feminine clothing, usually with a little bit of a twist. I also especially love their sweaters, and how they are SO much more special than the average sweater! You will notice a LOT of my Paris outfits included Sezane items! They are also a sustainable brand and a certified B-Corp!
More about Sezane’s Colette Mariniere top:
This top is a more substantial knit than a traditional tee, so it’s a bit more structured and therefore I think has the ability to look a bit nicer dressed up. It also has really pretty buttons on the top shoulder to add a little more French flair.
Sizing-wise, I think it’s a boxier cut, but runs true to size. I went with my normal size (small) and it fits the way I’d like it to! It’s long enough to front-tuck but not so long that it will look frumpy untucked. It also comes in several colors which I’ve linked above!
Daytime styling: With straight leg crop pants + cap toe flats:
It was a perfect fall day that day–highs in the low sixties, so bare ankles were perfectly suitable! I styled this top with my old standby straight leg crop pants (run TTS)–I loved that the light khaki color went perfectly with the neutral linen color of the stripes. I slipped on my chic and comfy Rothy’s cap-toe flats (code JESSK20 gets you $20 off your first order!) We walked a LOT that day and they were perfectly comfortable all day! For outerwear I went with my go-to trench that I’ve owned for YEARS. I love that it has a detachable hood and a button in/out liner for extra warmth. I was very grateful for the liner as the temps dropped later that night!
Nighttime styling: For sunset at the Eiffel Tower
Of course, you can definitely wear the below outfit during the day–but it’s great for night too as it’s a bit warmer! I did a quick outfit change as it was getting chilly out and I knew we’d be outside until after dark for our picnic at the Eiffel Tower! I wanted footwear that would cover my ankles for more warmth, thus, went with my trusty riding boots (have owned them for years!) and changed into skinny jeans as they’re a must for wearing with any tall boots! My skinnies I’m wearing here are old, but these Madewell skinnies are very similar and the #1 favorite jean of GG readers! My boots are also years old from Coach, but this pair is very similar!)
Quick layering tip for travel:
Tip: I also brought my ABLE leather jacket (see review here!) although it’s not pictured (luckily it folds up and fits in my backpack purse perfectly! Use code JESSKEYS20 for a discount on almost all ABLE items!) I will often layer a leather jacket under my trench if I need extra warmth! Between these two options worn separately and layered, I’m all set even if the temps dip into the low fifties!
Hope this gave you some great travel outfit inspo! Can’t recommend this top enough, it has already become a staple in my wardrobe!
Huge thanks to Victoria for snapping these photos! (Do you follow her yet? You should! She has the most GORGEOUS travel account! And also check out her amazing print shop!)
