Home Is Where Announce New Album Hunting Season, Share New Song: Listen

Home Is Where: Hunting Season

Home Is Where have announced their third studio album: Hunting Season arrives May 23 via Wax Bodega. Leading the Jack Shirley–produced record is “Migration Patterns,” a new song about lighthearted topics like “grappling with a mundane destiny” and working until the day you die. Give the emo-folk single a listen below.

Spanning 13 songs, Hunting Season more broadly embraces influences that Home Is Where have cited in the past, such as Bob Dylan and 1970s country music. “I was homesick and Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers’ first record specifically sounded like home,” said frontperson Bea MacDonald. “When we traveled as a band, the music that opened us up the most was country music like Parsons or Hank Williams. Listening to The Gilded Palace of Sin during the winter of ’21 opened a new tour tradition: when the weather is nice, the sun is shining, hopes are high, I put on that record and without fail every time something memorable happens.”

The follow-up to 2023’s The Whaler arrives one week before Home Is Where play Liberation Weekend Festival, in Washington, D.C. The trans rights music festival takes place at the Black Caton May 30 and May 31, and all proceeds go to Gender Liberation Movement to help fund future rallies, demonstrations, and direct actions in protest of anti-trans policymaking. Also slated to perform are Ekko Astral, Ted Leo, Speedy Ortiz, L’Rain, and many more.
