Angel Deradoorian is gearing up to release her first solo studio album since 2020. The former Dirty Projectors member’s new album, Ready for Heaven, is out May 9 via Fire. The follow-up to Find the Sun includes the December single “Digital Gravestone” and a new song that’s out today called “Set Me Free.” Find the new “Set Me Free” video below.
Deradoorian co-produced Ready for Heaven with Sonny DiPerri. The album also has contributions from saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi, drummer Dylan Fujioka, and others. “This album is partly about watching humanity erode,” Deradoorian said in a press statement. “It’s about mental struggle, and it’s avowedly anti-capitalist. I mean; would we have all these identity labels we have to live by, if we didn’t live in a capitalist world?”
After Find the Sun, Deradoorian teamed up with Kate NV to form the band Decisive Pink. Together, they released the album Ticket to Fame in 2023.
