Bruce Hornsby and the chamber ensemble yMusic have announced a new album from their collaborative project BrhyM. The album, Deep Sea Vents, is out March 1 (via Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers). Hornsby and yMusic’s Rob Moose produced the album, recording it in Williamsburg, Virginia, and New York. Check out lead single “Deep Blue,” and the collective’s forthcoming tour dates, below.
Moose, a violinist, is in yMusic with horn player CJ Camerieri, violist Nadia Sirota, cellist Gabriel Cabezas, clarinetist Hideaki Aomori, and flutist Alex Sopp. The new album has additional contributions from Branford Marsalis, Mark Dover, and drummer Chad Wright.
Hornsby and yMusic got to know each other at the Eaux Claires festival in 2016. The next year, the ensemble performed at Hornsby’s Funhouse Fest in Virginia, and, in 2019 yMusic featured prominently on Hornsby’s Absolute Zero.
Deep Sea Vents follows Bruce Hornsby’s 2022 album, ’Flicted, and a 2023 self-titled effort from yMusic.
