Falcon’s Flight will be the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in the world. Six Flags is currently testing its newest attraction at the Qiddiya location in Saudi Arabia and it sounds like a fighter jet during takeoff.
That is not hyperbole!!!
Blueprint plans for Six Flags Qiddiya were formally revealed in 2019. The park is expected to open at the end of this year but an official date has yet to be announced. It will feature 28 rides and attractions, including the most insane roller coaster in the world.
Falcon’s Flight is not for the feint of heart.
Falcon’s Flight was met with a lot of skepticism when the initial details were first announced. The coaster is designed to reach a top speed of 155.3 miles per hour over a total distance of 13,943 feet.
Built into the natural cliffs near the park, Falcon’s Flight hits a peak elevation of 639 feet with a vertical drop of 519 feet. Six trains of 14 riders will run simultaneously on the track, using three linear synchronous motor launches to propel the train to sequentially higher speeds. The launch to ascend the cliff will accelerate riders over 100 miles per hour. The descent gets up to that 155 number.
If you are anything like me, your initial thought was to question the feasibility of such speeds on an open-air coaster. Riders must be miserable, right? Wrong! You will be protected from airborne sands and the force of the wind at such high speeds by giant windshields on each car. Don’t worry.
Testing is underway!
Even though the haters said it could never be done, construction on the coaster was completed earlier this year. Six Flags Qiddiya recently started testing on Falcon’s Flight and it sounds like a literal fighter jet as the echo reverberates throughout the mountainside. The drop looks terrifying— in a good way, I think.
Six Flags also released an on-board video from its test runs. Promises of the world’s fastest, longest and tallest roller coaster were not exaggerated. All of those three things combine for complete insanity.

I don’t know when this coaster is going to start operation. I don’t think Saudi Arabia is entirely sure either.
However, the plan is for Six Flags Quiddiya to open to the public by year’s end. The only problem is that it is so far away. (If anyone from the park is reading this and wants to fly me out to try it out for myself… I would love nothing more than to scream my head off as I drop 500+ feet at 150+ miles per hour!)
