Prior to the release of the film on Netflix on June 16, Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave sat down for an interview with BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast.
During the interview, Hargrave — a former stuntman himself — broke down the 20-plus-minute-long, show-stopping “one take” that sees Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake fight his way out of a hostile prison before escaping on a train.
In particular, Hargrave dove into how difficult the train sequence was to pull off, especially since they *really* landed that helicopter on a moving train without using CGI.

“One thing I would love for them [audiences] to appreciate is the danger and difficulty of landing — practically, no CG involved — a helicopter full of stunt performers on a moving train,” Hargrave told BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast.
“That’s something that you just do every day. Flying a helicopter and landing it anywhere is dangerous because it’s a large moving machine with a lot of spinning parts. [And then] On a moving train. So it’s like a moving target. And on the front side we have powerlines. So there was a specific space on this train where we could land it,” he explained.
Extraction 2, which is now streaming on Netflix across the globe, stars Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahnai, Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Idris Elba.

When asked about a potential third film, Hargrave told us that it is virtually guaranteed to happen if the response to the second film was positive, and given that most of the reviews are hailing the project as an improvement on its predecessor, it’s extremely likely that we get (at least) a third adventure featuring Tyler Rake and the gang.
