Key quote: “This unlike every other thing that I’ve made, I feel more like an observer than the maker,” Exhibiting Forgiveness director Titus Kaphar said of the film. “It’s such a collaborative process,” surrounded by key cast in Deadline’s Sundance Studio, the acclaimed painter added. “And it doesn’t, as I’ve said a hundred times, it doesn’t get done by one person. Each person puts their brushstroke on the canvas, and it’s not till it’s up on the screen that you actually know what painting is there. So now, like I’m looking at this painting going, I think we did a good job. This is an excellent piece of work and ready to hang in the museum.”
The Deadline Studio at Sundance runs January 19-22 on Main Street, when the cast and creatives behind the best and buzziest titles in this year’s lineup sit down with Deadline’s festival team to discuss their movies and the paths they took to get to Park City.Thank you to our sponsors McGee & Co., Final Draft, Portrait Creative Network, and Courser
