After a extended break VAV came back with their seventh mini-album Subcönscióus. VAV released the brand new mini-album on the 12 June. Making their comeback with a new and exciting concept. We got to ask VAV all about the brand new release. Read on to find out what they said.
Can you tell us about the concept behind your seventh mini-album, “Subcönscióus,” and how it differs from your previous releases?
LOU: As the lyrics of the title track “Designer” suggests, the song conveys the message that each and every person is the designer of his or her own life so they shouldn’t listen to what others have to say and just go ahead and plan their own life.
ST.VAN: Compared to our previous albums, we tried to show more of our masculinity in this one.
After a hiatus of 2 years and 9 months, fans are incredibly excited for your comeback with “Subcönscióus.” How does it feel to be releasing new music after such a long break, and what can fans expect from this album?
ACE: We are very fond of this album because not only did we have a long hiatus, but also we were uncertain about when we could make a comeback. I really hope to get more opportunities to meet our fans, VAMPZ, in person during the promotion of this album.
ZIU: I wish that “Designer” can boost the self-esteem of those who are listening to it, and I want everyone to know that VAV will remain as a group forever.
“Designer” is the title track of your new album and follows the Latin-influenced music style of your previous releases. How did this particular musical style align with the message and concept you wanted to convey through the song?
ACE: The members enjoy Latin Pop. Also, I think the Latin culture that is full of passion really shows the character of VAV, as we are a very exciting and enthusiastic group as well.
JACOB: I think the message of the song, to passionately design your own life without caring too much about others, goes well with the Latin rhythm.
It’s exciting to hear that members Lou and Ayno participated in writing the lyrics for “Designer.” Can you share some insights into the creative process behind this song and how the lyrics reflect the idea of everyone being their own “designer”?
LOU: The lyrics to the song “Designer” is actually based on my story. I was self-conscious and would follow others rather than make my own decisions. If someone told me that the path I have chosen is correct and that I should go ahead with it, it would be encouraging to me. With that thought in mind, I started writing the lyrics.
“Subcönscióus” signifies a new chapter for VAV. In what ways do you feel you have evolved as artists since your last release, and how does this album mark a significant milestone in your career?
ST.VAN: I think I have improved and matured in all aspects. This album marks the new beginning of VAV, so I want to enjoy and have more fun on stage than ever before. I hope that the release of this album Subcönscióus will serve as an opportunity for us to go see all the VAMPZ around the world again.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for this comeback. How do you think “Subcönscióus” will resonate with your dedicated fanbase, and what do you hope they will take away from this album?
JACOB: Stop being self-conscious! Our fans would tell us that sometimes they are ashamed of being fanboys/fangirls. I think you should just do the things that make you happy without being too conscious about what others think of you.
ACE: We have written songs that convey our sincerity to our fans as well as songs that are enjoyable to hear, so I would recommend looking closely at the lyrics of the title track as well as the side tracks in this album.
We are in the month of June which means that we are halfway through the year already. What would you say your goals are for the rest of 2023?
LOU: I want the K-Pop scene to know that VAV is back. I hope to make an impression that VAV is a decent idol group and our songs are great to hear, even if people don’t necessarily become our fans.
Finally, what would you like to say to CelebMix readers?
AYNO: VAV has made a comeback with a song, “Designer.” Knowing that the process of preparing for this album wasn’t easy, we will do our best to show everything we have during the comeback so please give us a lot of love and support!
We think this brand new release from VAV is amazing. The tracks definitely deserve a place in fans summer playlists. Designer is one of the tracks that definitely has party vibes.
