The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne caused a stir when she debuted a new, smaller physique last year—but how did she do it? The reality star was accused of taking weight loss drug du jour Ozempic, something she strenuously denies. Jayne, like her RHOBH castmate Kyle Richards, credits clean living with her weight loss, plus hormonal medication for menopause. Here’s what else Jayne did to lose weight, and keep it off.
Jayne’s performances—and the rehearsals required—really helped her burn fat. “I’ve always been tiny,” she told BravoTV.com. “I got bigger through all of my depression and through everything else. There’s nothing like dancing and putting on a show and a little bit of stress to get you right back into shape. It has been so much fun to get back on stage. It’s so great to be in front of people, to feel that energy and I’m just happy like to perform again. My last, like, real run of shows was Broadway, but until then, I hadn’t really had anything to sink my teeth into.”
Jayne enjoys a healthy diet and admits she doesn’t always stick to her fitness regimen. “I’ve grown up disciplined all my life as a dancer, so I know how to eat and work out. Do I do it? No!” she told E! News. “The reason for that is it’s hard to manage the time. The busier you get… I used to be in the gym at 6 [a.m.], do I want to be in there at 5? It’s hard. My breakfast is egg whites, avocado and grilled tomatoes. Lunch is usually some type of chicken and then for dinner… I like to eat. I’ll eat pasta even though I’m not supposed to.”
Jayne uses a bust cream and makes regular visits with a dermatologist. “I don’t know why American women don’t use it more,” she told Glamour. “European women love it. You wanna wear something low and plunging, you don’t need creepy, dried-out décolleté… I can’t stress this enough: Make sure your dermatologist really checks all your moles and skin tags and things like that. Who doesn’t love a little micro-needling and a good ol’ laser, but I think really looking out for skin cancer is important first. And I mean all over your body—on your scalp, in between your toes, everywhere.”
Jayne insists she did not lose weight from taking Ozempic. “Here’s what. Let me just start off by saying, you know, I want to make sure that I don’t trigger anybody because we have this conversation in Beverly Hills and we have a cast member with an eating disorder,” she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live (referencing castmate Crystal Kung Minkoff). “I did come down in weight. I did it hormonally. I was going through menopause. So, I took it all down. I went to the doctor and I said get it off.”
Jayne works out with a personal trainer to stay focused and accountable. “I hear from people all the time that they need to get in shape before coming to the gym, but it’s exactly the opposite,” Leslie Flynn, Columbia Athletic Club General Manager, tells the Columbia Association. “It’s so invaluable to receive guidance on proper form and how to use equipment properly. Quality is always better than quantity.”
