Enter Shikari, Napalm Death and Carcass have announced they’ll be releasing 100% eco-friendly vinyls as part of a new ‘Be The Change’ campaign.
The project was developed in partnership with Greenyl: the first 100% eco-friendly vinyl record plant, and Rude Cares, the charitable arm of Rude Records.
It aims to raise awareness towards climate change and the environmental impact generated in the music community, and will release exclusive green versions of selected works in their catalogue.
Among the first LPs to receive the environmentally-friendly treatment are Enter Shikari’s second studio album ‘Common Dreads’, Napalm Death’s ‘Harmony Corruption’ – printed on red and light blue variants – and Carcass’ ‘Heartwork’, for which the original cover art by late influential swiss artist H. R. Giger has been replicated for this campaign.
All items from today’s drop will ship from February 2024, and can be found via the ‘Be The Change’ site.
Be The Change is selecting more artists for future campaign collaborations until the end of 2024, and as well as producing exclusive and limited Greenyl variants, will also plant 100 new trees to offset each project’s residual footprint.
Speaking on today’s launch of Be The Change, co-founder of Greenyl and president of Rude Records, Ilich Rausa says:
“We’re on a mission to flip the script on vinyl manufacturing, launching a project that’s not just music but a message for our world. I’m very excited that fans can enjoy eco-friendly vinyl versions of milestones LPs that rock as hard as their favourite bands.
“I can’t wait for everyone to dive into this wild ride with us. To the bands and fans, let’s crank up the enthusiasm and make history together. Get ready to be part of something epic – let’s turn up the volume and be the change.”
