Eminem, taking a page from Trent Reznor, trolled fans yearning for a new album by releasing a faux trailer for Infinite 2 on April Fools’ Day.
The video opens with screenshots of social media pleas from fans asking for a new Eminem album. Cue some 1996-era graphics and a movie narrator, who announces: “The highly-anticipated next studio album goes back to where it all started. Infinite but now it’s even more infinite. Out today!” The trailer is soundtracked by Eminem’s “Crack a Bottle.”
Though an obvious April Fools’ Joke, several Eminem admitted to being duped at first. “my dumbass still believed it despite being April 1st,” wrote one fan on reddit. Another added, “MF MADE ME CHECK SPOTIFY WITH A HEART ATTACK.”
Fortunately for Eminem fans, a new and very real album is on the horizon, as Dr. Dre recently revealed. “Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year,” Dre explained during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month. “I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire.”
