Marvel Movies have redefined the action and adventure genre with their out-of-this-world action scenes and iconic fight moments. However, these scenes don’t look as cool to the actors and crew that produce them. This information was revealed by Elizabeth Olsen, the actress who plays Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.

During a recent interview, Olsen revealed that she sometimes feels silly doing her hand movements as the Scarlett Witch. She laughed and said she hopes Marvel one day releases a version of the iconic movies without the special effects so fans can understand how it feels for her.

Earlier this year, Olsen also spoke about how her MCU career has affected her general career as an actress. She said it’d cost her other acting roles she would have loved to do and that it used to frustrate her deeply. Nevertheless, Olsen has big ideas for her future in the MCU, such as a possible standalone film.

Elizabeth Olsen Said Filming Is Sometimes Very Silly

Olsen has played her role as the Scarlet Witch for years and recently spoke about her filming experience during an interview with Variety. The actress shared that it’s sometimes very “silly” to film scenes because of the heavy use of special effects in Marvel movies.

She said, “It’s just silly. There’s a lot of silly stuff. I always wish that one day they just release a version of the film without any special effects, because then you understand how ridiculous it feels. And how spectacular the work is that goes into making these.”

Olsen mentioned a specific scene from “Avengers: Infinity War,” in which Maximoff attempts to remove the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead while also fighting off Thanos from getting it first. She said, “It’s very embarrassing shooting those kinds of things, because, like, the world depends on you doing it.”

Olsen also shared that she was relieved once they finished that scene. She said, “And I just remember being giggly the rest of the day, while Brolin (Thanos) had his helmet on. And I don’t know. These movies are very silly, but you have to act your a*s off for them to work.”

The “Wind River” actress explained further how filming a scene like the Thanos fight scene was so embarrassing. She’s starred in so many Marvel movies since her debut in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” so she’d definitely had a lot of silly filming moments. As she spoke, Olsen eventually used her hands to demonstrate how she had to film it.

Olsen said, “Because you’re like. Ugh, I’m doing this in public. But you have one hand out that’s stopping something with energy. And then you’ve got another hand that’s extracting this fake thing from this dotted face. And it’s painful and emotional.”

In an interview with The New York Times earlier this year, Olsen revealed that being a prominent Marvel actress has challenges. She explained that acting in the MCU has made her pass on several acting roles that she would have loved to do.

She said, “It took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member. And this is me being the most honest.” Olsen also shared that she eventually felt frustrated by the opportunities she’d had to give up.

She said, “I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being. And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it.” Olsen is one of many Marvel actors and actresses who have spoken about how their MCU careers forced them to give up viable opportunities.

During her interview with NYT, Olsen also spoke about her future as Maximoff/ Scarlett Witch. The actress revealed that she’d be down to do a standalone Scarlett Witch film but gave no hints about whether it’s a real possibility.

During a recent Variety event, Olsen had a red-carpet interview, during which she found out that Hugh Jackson is reprising his role as Wolverine. She also said that she’d like Scarlet Witch to collaborate with more X-Men characters in the future.

Olsen said, “I guess Wolverine is X-Men. It would be cool to work with a lot of those people from the X-Men franchise. I guess Fassbender is my dad in some world?”
