Emma Coronel, the model wife of Joaquin Guzman, AKA the imprisoned Mexican drug kingpin El Chapo, has a starring role in a new music video about her life.
The video, which she shared on her Instagram account, is for a song titled “La Senora.”
Coronel, 35, a former teenage beauty queen who was recently released from prison and went back to modeling, shared a teaser for the song performed by her and her husband’s lawyer Mariel Colon.
“I heard it when they were writing it, the whole song, every part it says, is important to me. It talks about me and everything that has happened in my life,” Emma Coronel recently told Univision.
“I have always had the dream of being a model, when I was little I always said I was going to be a model, so when they told me I was going to be a model in a video, of course I did, I liked it.”
Colon, who is reportedly close friends with Coronel, stars alongside El Chapo’s wife in the video.
After appearing on the VH1 reality TV show Cartel Crew, Coronel was arrested in 2021 on charges of international drug trafficking and conspiring to assist El Chapo, 38, in his 2015 escape from prison.
After originally being sentenced to three years in prison in November 2021, Emma Coronel ended up being released from prison in September of 2023.
Coronel and Colon also appeared in another Instagram post shared on Wednesday promoting the Friday release of the music video which shows them wearing t-shirts with the labels “Model” and “Artist.”
Colon also wrote in a separate Instagram post, “So excited to share this project with you all. It’s a very important and personal project. Thanks to @emmacoronel9oficial for trusting me and being part of this.”
The full music video is scheduled to be released on Friday, August 9th.
