The Murphy family added a new member on Saturday when Eddie Murphy‘s eldest daughter, Bria Murphy, married her fiancé, Michael Xavier. As confirmed by People, the couple tied the knot in front of family and friends in a romantic ceremony in Beverly Hills. The couple’s wedding party included Eddie, who walked his daughter down the aisle, and her mother, Nicole Mitchell Murphy.
It’s unclear exactly how long Bria and Xavier have been together, but in December, the 32-year-old artist and actor shared her engagement photos on Instagram alongside the caption, “I can’t wait to marry you.” Xavier shared the same photos on his feed with the caption, “Forever my love.”
Bria is Eddie’s oldest daughter. The “Coming to America” star has 10 children in total: Eric (whose mother is Paulette McNeely), Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella (all with Nicole), son Christian with Tamara Hood, daughter Angel with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, and Izzy and Max with Paige Butcher.
Eric is currently dating Eddie’s frequent costar and friend Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence. He was also in attendance at his little sister’s wedding, and he celebrated her big day with a video that he shared in his Instagram Story. Eric captured a video of Bria and Xavier walking down the aisle which he captioned, “Soooo BEAUTIFUL @bria_murphy, big brother LOVES YOU so much!!”
As for Bria, the artist has appeared in a few films, including “The Perfect Match” and “Conflict of Interest,” but her passion appears to be art. In February 2020, both of her parents supported her at her art show in Los Angeles, and she took the opportunity to praise her famous dad. “Oddly enough, I’ve never felt embarrassed about my father,” she told Variety. “I know lots of kids, you know, they look at their parents and go, ‘Oh my God, they’re so embarrassing. My dad, I’ve never looked at him and [thought that]. So whatever he feels like he wants to talk about, I support it.”
Bria’s new husband may not be as high profile as her dad, but the 36-year-old is no stranger to Hollywood. Xavier is a frequent star of Hallmark Christmas movies like “A Christmas Treasure” and “Christmas Comes Twice.” He’s also had major roles on shows including “The Expanse,” “Bitten,” and “Northern Rescue.”
Given his acting background, Xavier is sure to fit right in with his wife’s famous family.
