Don't Be Rude Or Else

Dealing with rude customers is a rite of passage for anyone who works with people.

And while “rude” can mean different things to different people, everyone from servers to salespeople has at least one story of a customer who crossed the line.

Most choose to handle it quietly—smiling on the outside, seething on the inside—also known as “acting professional.” Others take a more questionable approach.

Tampa Bay Car Wash’s ‘Solution’ To A Rude Customer

In a viral video that’s now been seen over 4.5 million times, Jules Car Wash (@julescarwash) in Tampa Bay shows how it handles customers who give them attitude.

“When the customer was rude & this is your form of payback,” reads the caption over the first clip.

A gray truck enters the wash. At first, the truck gets sprayed down with shampoo as expected.

Then, as the car goes deeper into the wash, the screen reads, “*turns brushes off*.”

None of the brushes—such as the side scrubbers or top rollers—are moving as the car idly moves along.

“We clean cars, not attitudes…” the business added in the video’s caption. “Stay soapy.”

Could The Car Wash Get In Trouble For Doing This?

Jules Car Wash’s video appears to be a skit, and we assume the “customer” is just another worker. However, it does pose some interesting questions, like could a car wash get in trouble for this? Potentially, yes.

Intentionally offering a service that doesn’t match what was paid for—even as what seems like harmless payback—can land a business in hot water. If the customer bought a package that included a full wash with brushes and didn’t receive that, the business could be accused of breach of contract.

That kind of move might not be criminal, but it could lead to refund demands, negative reviews, or even small claims court if the customer pushed back.

Commenters Had Thoughts

Viewers found the petty move endearing but questioned how one could catch an attitude at a car wash. There is minimal employee-customer interaction at a car wash, and most automatic ones like this last a maximum of 10 minutes.

“What kind of person gets rude to people at a carwash?!?!” one questioned.

“I support this. Have the car wash you deserve,” one said.

While we believe the video to be a skit, car wash workers chimed in to say they do take revenge into their own hands sometimes.

“I’ve done that [too] many times when I worked at a car wash,” one said.

“Or you keep stopping the wash …..I do this and it pisses them off,” another apparent car wash worker suggested.
